WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Dr. Phil’ Advances, Leads Talkers

In the week ending July 5, the yak pack king climbed 6% to a 1.9 with five days of repeats, topping the chat fests for the third straight week and the 187th time in the last 200 weeks.

Building on a developing trend, daytime viewers continued to flock to the two biggest court shows during the frame leading into the July 4 weekend, the session ending July 5. For the fourth week in a row, court favorites Judge Judy and Judy’s progeny Hot Bench ran 1,2 as the highest and second-highest rated strips in all of daytime, despite both shows being almost entirely in reruns.

Judy aired repeats all week, but still scored nearly triple the rating of anything else in daytime with a surprisingly high and rock solid 5.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. And Hot Bench beat everything else in the daypart, barreling ahead 5% to a 2.0 and matching a six-week high.

Further back among the gavelers were:

  • Peoples Court at an unchanged 1.3.
  • Judge Mathis, which moved down 11% to a 0.8.

In talk show action, Dr. Phil was the only program in the plus column, climbing 6% to a 1.9 with five days of repeats and leading the yak pack for the third straight week and the 187th time in the last 200 weeks.

Live with Kelly and Ryan was still on hiatus, airing mostly repacked shows, but captured second place after giving back 6% to a new season low 1.6.

Ellen DeGeneres declined 8% to a new series low 1.1, tying Maury, which was flat.
