A boost in retail spending is helping keep the Chicago media market healthy in 2014, while political spending is also contributing to tightening inventory and rising prices. Overall TV spending is up slightly versus a year ago, with auto spending strong and retail coming in as one of the biggest growth categories so far this year.

Chicago’s media economy is flat to last year in terms of spending and pricing. And that’s actually pretty impressive, since the market was very strong in 2012 with political and Olympics spending. TV is expected to remain flat to last year or rise slightly as the year progresses, as most dayparts are starting to tighten for summer.
Chicago: Good Ad Deals Available On TV
Chicago is an active, healthy market heading into 2013, but it’s not sold out and there are deals available on both television and radio. Pricing for 2013 is generally flat year-to-year, and buyers are locking in favorable rates with annual buys.
