Jeff Glor Sticks With CBS News

After being removed from CBS Evening News, Jeff Glor has decided to remain with the network as co-host of CBS This Morning: Saturday. He will be co-hosting with Dana Jackbson and Michelle Miller.

Friday Is Glor’s Last Day On ‘CBS Evening News’

Jeff Glor, who has been the face of CBS Evening News since late 2017, has told staff he will step down as anchor of the evening newscast after Friday’s program, according to three people familiar with the matter. Norah O’Donnell won’t take over until this summer. Glor is currently in discussions about taking a new role at CBS News.

CBS’s Glor Scores Surprise Trump Interview

For the first time since NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt’s May 2017 interview in the White House, a broadcast evening news anchor has scored a sit-down with President Donald Trump. CBS News on Saturday announced that anchor Jeff Glor interviewed the president in Scotland, at his resort, and will interview the president again on Wednesday, when he returns to Washington from his Monday summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.

CBS Looks To Glor To Give News Digital Boost

CBS will be courting digital viewers by re-airing CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor, on its streaming channel CBSN at 7 p.m. Pacific time after it airs on the network’s TV affiliates across the country. The anchor will also do newsmaker interviews and his program will produce reports that will air everyday on CBSN, whether they make it onto his 30 minute broadcast or not.

New Anchor Set For ‘CBS Evening News’

Jeff Glor takes over as the broadcast’s anchor replacing Scott Pelley, who was shown the door — or, rather, sent back across the street to 60 Minutes — after six years this past spring. The network also announced Friday that the evening news will be replayed each night at 10 on the CBSN streaming service, an additional viewing opportunity for people who aren’t around a television set at dinnertime.

When CBS News President David Rhodes announced Jeff Glor as the next CBS Evening News anchor in October, he said Glor “represents the best journalistic values and traditions that will carry the CBS Evening News into a digital future.”
