The CBS affiliate dropped a noon newscast three years ago. The new broadcast will debut Sept. 15 and will be anchored by Jocelyn Connell, with Jim Loznicka providing weather. At 12:30 p.m., the station will debut Atlanta Unplugged, a local lifestyle show hosted by Parker Wallace.
Larry Smith, a long-time CNN sports anchor, has been appointed to the newly created job at the Atlanta CBS affiliate.
Lane Michaelsen is leaving Scripps’ WCPO Cincinnati to take the news director’s job at Meredith’s CBS affiliate in Atlanta, succeeding Eric Ludgood who left in January.

The former head of CBS’s Detroit WWJ-WKBD duopoly will oversee Meredith’s Atlanta CBS affiliate as well as its local management agreement with WPCH.
The Meredith CBS affiliate in Atlanta will drop its noon newscast this fall but add a 9 a.m. hour to its Better Mornings broadcast. Better Mornings currently airs from 4:30 to 7 a.m., followed by two hours of CBS’s The Early Show. People’s Court is now the network’s 9 a.m. show.
