Even your creative services director is new, just a few months on the job. Yet despite those obstacles, WHEC, Hubbard Broadcasting’s NBC affiliate in Rochester, N.Y., was the No. 1 newscast at 11 p.m. in adults 25-54 in the November 2017 sweep.

Hubbard Broadcasting taps the former assistant ND at WTSP Tampa, Fla., to head news operations at its NBC affiliate in Rochester, N.Y.

The Hubbard-owned NBC affiliate in Rochester, N.Y., focuses its news coverage on stories that expose the warts of New York State. WHEC “wanted a direction and focus that supersedes slogans,” says Marketing Director Steven Patrick. “We wanted to be known for something; maybe we can make New York a little better place.”

The Rochester, N.Y., NBC affiliate expressed regret on Thursday for televising a repeat of Chicago Fire, a network drama about firefighters, that bore resemblances to the real-life Christmas Eve shooting in nearby Webster, N.Y.
