Media Industry, WICT Debut #LeadwithMore PSA

The new nationwide campaign honors WICT's 40th anniversary while encouraging women to pursue meaningful career paths in the industry.

Urging people to #LeadwithMore, some of the nation’s largest broadband and entertainment providers have joined with WICT to launch a nationwide campaign in honor of WICT’s 40th anniversary.

Comcast NBCUniversal, Cox, Discovery, Spectrum and Turner are celebrating women’s success in the industry by encouraging both young and seasoned professional women to pursue a career path in media and technology. The campaign dovetails with WICT’s first-ever public service announcement, which debuted Monday at the National Press Club in Washington. Click here to view the 30-second spot.

“For 40 years, WICT has partnered with cable companies to help advance women in the media and tech industry,” said Maria E. Brennan, WICT president-CEO. “Our new PSA and digital media campaign highlight the business case for stronger gender diversity — a message WICT has been championing for four decades. As women seek meaningful careers in companies with strong track records of diversity and inclusion, we greatly encourage them to look for opportunities within our industry.”

The #LeadwithMore digital media campaign emphasizes the growing body of research that supports the business case for gender diversity, including:

  • Companies with women in top management have higher staff morale (Harvard Business Review).
  • Gender diversity fosters greater innovation (Pfizer and AstraZeneca).
  • Gender diverse companies are more profitable than their competition (McKinsey and Co.).
  • Across the board, women in leadership roles enhance a company’s performance (Peterson Institute for International Economics).

The timely #LeadwithMore campaign will run through June 4.

WICT’s PSA partners are contributing more than $6 million in public service announcement airplay to the #LeadwithMore campaign, in addition to support through various social media platforms, designed to complement their existing efforts to achieve gender parity in the workplace.
