Broadcasters Foundation Golf Tourney Raises $200,000+

The funds were raised Monday at the Broadcasters Foundation of America’s Celebrity Golf Tournament in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., to support broadcasters in need.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America raised more than $200,000 to help broadcasters in need during yesterday’s 2021 Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. More than 150 broadcasters and celebrities turned out to help support broadcasters who have experienced terrible loss due to illness or unforeseen disaster.

“The Celebrity Golf Tournament is one of our biggest annual fundraising events,” noted said Jim Thompson, president of the Broadcasters Foundation. “We had to cancel last year’s tournament due to the pandemic, and we are grateful to return this year and to have strong support from our sponsors and players. The money comes at a time when we are helping more broadcasters and their families than ever before. Our thanks also goes to everyone who has generously supported the mission of the Broadcasters Foundation with a donation.”

Celebrity golfers in attendance were: John Anderson, ESPN Sports Center anchor; Chad Cascadden, New York Jets; Scott Brunner, New York Giants; Scott Burrell, Chicago Bulls NBA champion; Jon Crispin, ESPN commentator; Mike Eaves, ESPN Sports Center anchor; Jeff Feagles, New York Giants Super Bowl champion; Rachel Grant, actress; Mike Grella, New York Red Bulls; Jane Hanson, host of New York Live on WNBC New York; Rebecca Harlow, NFL Network, NBA-TV, MSG Network; Marc Kesteacher, ESPN NBA play-by-play voice; Otis Livingston, WCBS New York sports anchor; Ann Liguori, WFAN New York and CBS Sports; Rob Marciano, ABC News meteorologist; Sean McDonough, ESPN NHL; Bill Neil, NFL New York Giants, Green Bay Packers; CJ Papa, Fox News Channel anchor; Karl Ravech, ESPN Sports Center and Baseball Tonight; Jeremy Schaap, ESPN personality; Scott Shannon, WCBS-FM morning host; Jim Spanakel, Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks; Wally Szczerbiak, NBA All-Star; Tim Welsh, ESPN college basketball analyst; Trey Wingo, football network host and commentator.

Additionally, LPGA pros Liz Caron and Ellen Ceresko were on hand for the contest holes.

Ray Cole, President and COO of Citadel Communications, served as this year’s chair. The Broadcasters Foundation of America has distributed millions of dollars in aid to broadcasters who have lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease or unforeseen tragedy. Personal donations can be made to the Foundation’s Guardian Fund.
