NAB Show: Cablecast to Host Online Seminar for Community Media, Municipalities

Cablecast Community Media will present the Connected Communities Summit, a free, two-day streaming event, during the 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas next month. On April 17-18, panelists including solutions providers, industry experts and legal professionals will discuss accessibility and streaming, two hot topics in the municipal and community media space.

Both sessions will begin at 10 a.m. PT and will be followed by a live Q&A with panelists. Attendees do not have to attend the 2023 NAB Show to register for the Connected Communities Summit. However, NAB Show attendees can join the Cablecast Team in person at its exhibitor suite in the Westgate Hospitality Suites during the event.

“NAB Show offers a great educational experience, but many PEG channels can’t afford to send representatives to the show,” said Steve Israelsky, president, Cablecast Community Media. “Plus, many of the sessions are designed for commercial broadcasters. The Connected Communities Summit is not only more accessible, it focuses on conversations specifically around the needs and concerns of cities and community media stations.”

The first session is a must-attend for all community media and city employees responsible for video, public meetings and content accessibility in their communities. On Monday, April 17, “Democracy on Demand: Accessibility Best Practices for Your Municipal Video Communications” will explore everything from compliance issues to compelling new AI tools. Moderated by Cablecast’s Dana Healy, attendees can join this discussion to stay up on the most pressing issues influencing policy initiatives and technology adoption at the local level.

For production and program managers, it’s time to make network streaming less intimidating. Cablecast presents “Streaming Democracy: Adopting IP Video Delivery to Live Stream Municipal Meetings” on Tuesday, April 18. This session will provide insights and best practices to help community media organizations get started with IP-based video workflows. Panelists include industry experts explaining the benefits of IP video delivery for reaching targeted local audiences, as well as station personnel sharing their real-world streaming workflows, challenges, and lessons learned.

“This year’s sessions are targeting video content accessibility and streaming, two areas of concern that continue to generate questions from our customers,” Israelsky said. “Our ‘Democracy on Demand’ panel will take a deep dive into digital inclusion and access, while ‘Streaming Democracy’ will help production staff sort through the alphabet soup of protocols and help organizations with limited resources streamline their setups.”
