Ryan Scott Upped To Station Manager Of WGBA Green Bay

Scripps promotes him from news director to help with day-to-day operations of the NBC affiliate while continuing to lead news operations.

Ryan Scott has been tapped to help lead WGBA as station manager — a new role at the E.W. Scripps-owned NBC affiliate in Green Bay, Wis.

Scott launched his career in local TV broadcasting in 1999 at WTMJ, Scripps’ NBC affiliate in Milwaukee. There he led news content operations and production in various ascending roles.

He has been the news director at WGBA since December 2021. In that time, he implemented a content strategy dedicated to neighborhoods throughout the market. As station manager, he will help with day-to-day operations and lead news operations. Joe Poss will continue to oversee WGBA in his role as regional vice president.

“Ryan is a recognized leader with a keen understanding of WGBA and the Northeast Wisconsin community it serves,” said Dean Littleton, senior vice president of local media for Scripps. “That hyperlocal expertise, combined with his commitment to the value of local news, makes him a great fit to continue leading the station in this new role.”

Scott graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has called Wisconsin home for his entire professional career. Originally from Greater Milwaukee, he says the opportunity to serve his home state has been incredibly rewarding.

“Wisconsin is my home,” Scott said. “I went to school here, launched my career, started a family and, most recently, I’ve gotten to know the people and places that make Northeast Wisconsin so special. I’ve helped cover some of the biggest news stories in the state for more than two decades. I’m committed to making sure the NBC 26 team continues to serve its viewers and advertisers in the best way possible.”
