Inside Edition inched up 4% to a 2.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, followed closely by big-sister show Entertainment Tonight, which jumped 9% to a 2.5. In the key women 25-54 demo, Inside and ET were up 25% and 11%, respectively.

Univision Says Sports, Scripted Series To Return

Spanish-language broadcaster Univision plans to offer live sports and scripted series in coming months, as the network’s company strives to woo ad dollars from English competitors while being sold to a new company in the not-too-distant future. Univision plans to unveil 11 new scripted series, the result of a long production pipeline that readies series with a much longer lead time than counterparts, as well as televise matches from Liga MX, UEFA Champions League and MLS.

ABC Renews ‘For Life,’ Cancels ‘Baker And Beauty’

For Life has been renewed for a second season at ABC, while The Baker and the Beauty has been canceled after one season. Inspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr., For Life is a fictional serialized  drama about an imprisoned man, Aaron Wallace, who becomes a lawyer litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.

NBC Renews ‘Manifest,’ Cancels 3 Rookies

2021 Oscars Delayed Due To Coronavirus

The 93rd Academy Awards will now be held April 25, 2021, eight weeks later than originally planned. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors also decided to extend the eligibility window beyond the calendar year to Feb. 28, 2021, for feature films, and delay the opening of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures from December until April 30, 2021. The awards show will be telecast by ABC.

ABC’s ‘Press Your Luck,’‘Match Game’ Wins Sun.

Celebrity Family Feud scored ABC’s highest rating on the night with a 0.8 among adults 18-49 and 5.2 million total viewers. That represents a slight down tick from last week. Meanwhile both Press Your Luckand Match Game rose from the week before, with the former snagging a 0.7 rating and the latter a 0.6. Both hit season high viewership figures of 3.9 million and 3.5 million respectively. The season finale of America’s Funniest Home Videos scored a 0.6 rating and 4.6 million pairs of eyeballs.

Report: 24% Of Fans May Cut Cable If MLB Canceled

As the nation begins to reopen after months of shutdown, both the NBA and NHL have made definitive plans to resume their respective seasons. However, baseball fans are still holding their breath as the MLB seems to be struggling to get things going. A survey by research firm Mindnet Analytics examined how fans view the uncertainty surrounding the MLB return.

MLB, Turner Sports Close To Rights Renewal

Major League Baseball has agreed to broad terms on a new rights deal with Turner Sports at around a 40% average annual increase, sources said. Nothing has been signed formally, but this new deal will see Turner pay an average of around $470 million per year from 2022 through 2028 for a rough total of $3.29 billion. Its expiration will sync with a Fox deal signed in November 2018. Turner now pays an average of $325 million a year under an eight-year deal that expires after the 2021 season.
