Angel Salcedo Joins WCVB Boston As Sports Reporter

Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate WCVB Boston has hired Angel Salcedo as a sports reporter beginning Monday, June 5. He joins WCVB’s lead sports anchor Duke Castiglione and sports reporters Josh Brogadir and Naoko Funayama.

Originally from Massachusetts, Salcedo comes to WCVB from fellow Hearst station KOAT Albuquerque, N.M., where he was a general assignment reporter, sports reporter, and fill-in sports anchor.

While at KOAT, Salcedo covered a variety of breaking news, political and sports stories. In his role as sports reporter and fill-in sports anchor, Salcedo reported from the sidelines for KOAT’s The Rundown football show and reported live from the University of New Mexico football games. He also provided live reports from the Dell Technologies Championship PGA golf event, as well as local color commentary when reporting live from the 2018 Boston Red Sox Championship Parade.

Salcedo joined KOAT upon graduating from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in broadcast journalism. He was the news director of the school’s news station, WEBN News, and the host of Good Morning Emerson for three years. Fluent in English and Spanish, Salcedo is skilled at bilingual story gathering and has directed, produced, and written for WEBN’s weekly Spanish newscast.
