Brandi Cummings Promoted To KCRA Weekend Anchor

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate KCRA Sacramento, Calif., has promoted Brandi Cummings to the weekend anchor position. She joins Walter Makaula as co-anchor for KCRA 3 News on Saturday and Sunday evenings and begins her new role immediately.

Since joining the KCRA 3 News team in April 2018, she has covered stories in Northern California ranging from wildfires to winter storms. Cummings has extensively covered issues related to COVID-19 funding, testing and vaccine equity and regularly gives members of our community a voice to shine a spotlight on important issues.

Prior to KCRA, she worked at WAVY-WVBT Portsmouth, Va.; WTOC Savannah, Ga.; WIS Columbia, S.C.; and WRDW in her hometown of Augusta, Ga.

Cummings has several honors, including awards from the Virginia Associated Press and the South Carolina Associated Press. She is a two-time National Association of Black Journalist Salute to Excellence Award winner.
