David Bohrman, whose long career in TV journalism has wound through some of its biggest organizations and stories, will be the keynote interview at TVNewsCheck’s virtual NewsTECHForum event.

The interview, Trust and Technology: Where Does TV Go From Here?, with TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp, will stream live on Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. ET. Bohrman will look at some of the major technologies and innovations he has helped usher into the industry — video walls and data visualization among them — and talk about how they will continue to reshape news organizations’ approach to storytelling for a deeply polarized audience.

Bohrman will discuss his most recent experience with CBS News covering the 2020 election, the possibility of deescalating mistrust in news organizations, the evolving demands on TV news anchors and reporters and the still-untapped potential of digital and streaming platforms.

“Over a long career, David Bohrman has been a visionary driver of technology and innovation in TV news, and he’s the perfect keynote interview to put a revolutionary year — and what comes after it — into an actionable perspective,” Depp said. “Our conversation will go deeply into key technologies like video walls and augmented reality, their scalability for news organizations of every size and how emerging tools and data can help bridge the chasm of trust with news audiences.”

NewsTECHForum will also feature sessions on Novel Approaches to News Storytelling Under Stress; Pivoting the Newsroom to Crisis; How Will Digital and Streaming Storytelling Evolve in 2021?; Advances in IP and Cloud Workflows; Remote Production: From Exception to Option; Standing Out on Social in a Historic Year and News 2022: The Reshaping of Programming, Technology and Audience.

Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic Roundtables on key issues.
