NAB President, CEO Curtis LeGeyt To Be Featured Speaker At Media Institute ‘Free Speech America’ Gala on Oct. 19

Curtis LeGeyt, president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, will be the Featured Speaker at The Media Institute’s “Free Speech America” Gala on October 19.  The event will take place in person at The Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Said a Media Institute press release, LeGeyt’s keynote remarks will “set the tone for the Gala,” the organization’s signature event celebrating Free Speech Week, Oct. 16-22, 2023.

Following his remarks, the Institute will honor former FCC chairman Michael Powell, president and CEO of NCTA–The Internet & Television Association, and best-selling author Bob Woodward. Michael Powell will receive the American Horizon Award while Bob Woodward will receive the Freedom of Speech Award.

The master of ceremonies will be noted communications attorney and Media Institute Board Chairman Richard E. Wiley of Wiley Rein LLP.

Curtis LeGeyt assumed his current role in January 2022 after serving as NAB’s chief operating officer.  Prior to that, he served as the association’s executive vice president of Government Relations from 2015 to 2020.  LeGeyt also serves on the boards of directors of the NAB Leadership Foundation and the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

Michael K. Powell heads NCTA, one of the largest trade associations in Washington, D.C., representing the communications and content industries.  He is a former FCC chairman.
