Simone Aponte Upped To KTVU News Director

The assistant news director will now oversee journalism at Fox’s San Francisco O&O.

Simone Aponte today was promoted to vice president and news director of Fox O&O KTVU San Francisco. Effective immediately, she will oversee all editorial, business and administrative functions for the station.

Mellynda Hartel, KTVU SVP-GM, said: “Simone has been a key contributor to our newsroom’s success for nearly a decade. Her strong news judgement and management style will enable KTVU to continue to deliver the high-quality news and information our viewers expect from us each day.”

Aponte joined KTVU in 2014. She has spent the last two years as assistant news director, after holding the roles of managing editor and executive producer at the station.

Prior to joining KTVU, Aponte was an executive producer for KFMB San Diego and before that, at KSWB. She started her career as a producer for KUSI San Diego.

A graduate of Boston University, Aponte holds a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. In addition, she has a Master of Arts degree in multimedia communications from Academy of Art University.
