Sinclair Broadcast Group’s News Academy Returns In November

Sinclair Broadcast Group today announced the return of Sinclair’s News Reporter and Producer Academies, a series of interactive, virtual workshops for college students interested in pursuing careers in journalism. This year, Sinclair will also add Weather Academy, a workshop for students interested in a career in weather. The 90-minute sessions will run throughout November and assist students seeking to build a career in reporting, producing or weather.

Session Dates

  • Reporter Academy – Nov. 1
  • Producer Academy – Nov. 8
  • Weather Academy – Nov. 15

Each session will take place virtually, from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET.

Sinclair’s Reporter Academy, now in its third year, is hosted by Sinclair’s news operation, giving students an opportunity to learn about Sinclair’s modern content centers and interact with the company’s industry-leading teams. Students will learn the basics of reporting and investigative storytelling across multiple platforms, and how to package a resume and reel.

Sinclair’s Producer Academy, now in its sixth year, is a workshop for students interested in pursuing a career as a digital or broadcast news producer.

This year, Sinclair has expanded the session programming to include weather, with presentations for the Weather Academy from meteorologists detailing multiplatform weather coverage.
