WBTV Charlotte Adds Meteorologist Lisa Villegas

Gray Television’s CBS affiliate WBTV Charlotte, N.C., has hired meteorologist Lisa Villegas for its First Alert Weather Team that includes Al Conklin, Rachel Coulter, Eric Garlick and Elissia Wilson. She can be seen weeknights on WBTV News at 5, 6 and 11 p.m.

“Lisa is a perfect fit. She comes to us as a former chief meteorologist with great experience forecasting from coast to coast — she knows weather,” said WBTV First Alert Chief Meteorologist Al Conklin.

Villegas began her career as a meteorologist at KLFY Lafayette, La., then moved to Texas and was a meteorologist at KRGV Harlingen-Waco. She transitioned to KTVT Dallas where she was voted as one of the “Top 100 Meteorologists on Social Media.”

Villegas moved to Tucson, Ariz., where she was chief meteorologist at KOLD and KMSB and was voted ‘Best Local Weatherperson in Tucson’. At KCPQ Seattle she was chief meteorologist and provided national forecasts for Fox Weather.

Villegas has a meteorology degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
