WESH Orlando Expanding With 7 P.M. Newscast

Hearst’s NBC affiliate WESH Orlando, Fla., will launch a new half-hour weeknight newscast at 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 11.

“Local news continues to be the most trusted source for information,” said John Soapes, president and general manager. “Adding WESH 2 News at 7:00 p.m. will provide Central Florida viewers with another opportunity to get local news and weather at a time that is convenient to them.”

WESH was recently honored with three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Breaking News, Sports Reporting and Overall Excellence for Large Market Television.

In adding the 7 p.m. newscast, WESH will produce 65.5 hours of local news per week — more than any other local broadcast station in Central Florida, according to the station.

WESH 2 News at 7:00 p.m. will be anchored by Stewart Moore, Michelle Imperato and Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi.

They put out a great newscast in a very busy part of Central Florida. I’ve met some very professional journalists with ethics and integrity there. The expansion makes a lot of sense.
