WXIA Names Kristie Anderson Assistant News Director

Tegna NBC affiliate WXIA Atlanta has promoted Kristie Anderson to assistant news director, effective immediately. She previously was managing editor of daily content.

Anderson started her career at KTVK Phoenix as an intern and was promoted to associate producer while attending the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State. She has held the producer role at stations in Milwaukee and Atlanta before joining WXIA in 2012 as weekend producer.

During Anderson’s tenure at 11Alive, she has been producer or executive producer on morning, evening and late newscasts. She oversaw the addition of an hour of midday news in 2020 and grew the 6 p.m. newscast year-over-year. In 2019, she implemented a plan to increase the amount of daily content produced and successfully manages resources to produce impactful content with context and perspective.

“Kristie is a leader who drives results by pushing for excellence with passion while leading with empathy and compassion,” said Jennifer Rigby, WXIA news director. “She has been the lead manager in the station since the pandemic started, overseeing historic events such as the pandemic, protests, the push for social justice, and the presidential and U.S. senate runoff elections.”
