WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Jeopardy’ Squeaks Out Another Overall Syndie Win

In the week ending May 1, the game show powered by Mattea Roach beat out Family Feud by a tenth of a ratings point.

Family Feud made it close, but Jeopardy, which saw super-contestant Mattea Roach defeated May 6 after winning 23 consecutive games, held on to the overall syndication lead in the session ending May 1.

Jeopardy fell 5% to a 5.3 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, while Feud, which was one of the very few programs to increase, moved up 2% to a three-week high 5.2. Next in line, Wheel of Fortune faded 12% to a 4.4.

Elsewhere in access time periods, the only magazines in the top five able to hold their ground in the face of heavy competition from coverage of the NFL draft were TMZ and Extra.

In daytime, programs on CBS affiliates ran into preemptions for UEFA Champions League soccer coverage. The talk show race was again tight as Dr. Phil and Live with Kelly and Ryan both relinquished 6 to a 1.5 and remained tied at the top.

In the advertiser-coveted women 25-54 demo, the soon-to-be-widely-upgraded Kelly Clarkson crushed it with a 33% climb to a 0.4. It was also the only talk show in the top four to hold its ground both week to week and year to year.

Judge Judy clobbered the court shows despite dipping 7% to a 4.3, and was syndication’s second highest show overall among women 25-54 behind only demo leader Family Feud.
