WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Judy’ Is The Week’s Biggest Mover

Its 8% gain in the week ending June 21 was the most of the four first-run syndicated shows that managed week-to-week advances.

Only a handful of syndicated strips generated meaningful ratings steam in the last week before summer as people using television (PUT) levels sank to their lowest of the year.

The daytime strip turning the most heads and scoring the biggest increase in the session ending June 21 was the unbeatable court show Judge Judy, which extended its winning streak to 1,239 weeks, and jumped 8% to a three-week high 5.7 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating despite being completely in reruns.

The second-highest-rated daytime program was Judy’s creation Hot Bench, which shrugged off preemptions and four days of repeats to hang tough at a 2.0. This is the second week in a row that the two shows have run 1,2 at the top of the daytime chart.

Elsewhere in daytime, Dr. Phil, although airing encore episodes on all five days, reclaimed the lead in the talk show race with a 6% advance to a 1.9.

Live with Kelly and Ryan, which has been red hot of late, took second place in talk, just missing with a 1.8 after a 5% breather.

Ellen DeGeneres was third with an unchanged 1.2.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

The rookie leader was Kelly Clarkson, whose star was just named the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host at the Daytime Emmys. Clarkson’s show rose 25% in the coveted women 25-54 age group and held its ground at a 1.0 in households.

In access, magazine mainstays Inside Edition and Daily Mail TV were the sole gainers in first run. Edition edged up 4% to first place among news mags with a 2.6, while Mail delivered a 13% surge to a 10-week high 0.9, tying TMZ for fourth place for the first time this season.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.9, +13% from the week before)
  • Dr. Phil (0.7, unchanged)
  • Kelly Clarkson (0.5, +25%), tied with Maury (0.5, -17%), Ellen DeGeneres (0.5, unchanged) and Steve Wilkos (0.5, unchanged)

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA means not applicable.

Why is Celebrity Page still counted in the ratings 0.1 isn’t very good at all at this point I’d hide the ratings for Celebrity Page.
