WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Kelly Clarkson’ Powers To New Season High

The just-renewed Clarkson ramped up 10% to a 1.1 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating in the week ending Dec. 13 and leapt into a tie with veteran Ellen DeGeneres for third place among talk shows for the first time this season.

Sophomore Kelly Clarkson, which was just renewed for two more years, was one of the few success stories in the session ending Dec. 13, and syndication’s only strip to hit a new season high. Clarkson ramped up 10% to a 1.1 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating and leapt into a tie with veteran Ellen DeGeneres for third place among talk shows for the first time this season.

Ellen, which wrapped up its “12 Days of Giveaways” during the frame, declined 8% to a 1.1.

Second-year hit Tamron Hall was the only other talker beside Clarkson to break into positive territory, growing 13% to a 0.9 to match its best rating of the season.

Live with Kelly and Ryan and Dr. Phil finished in a dead heat at the top of the yak pack, with Live taking a 5% breather from its season high to a 1.9, and Phil holding steady at a 1.9.

Elsewhere in daytime, supreme court Judge Judy tied access game leader Family Feud for first place among households at a 5.6.

No. 2 courtroom Hot Bench was also strong, advancing 13% to 1.8 and equaling its biggest rating of the season, while People’s Court slipped 9% to a new series low 1.0.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

On the magazine rack, the only shows in the top five to hold their ground and avoid any decline were leader Inside Edition at a flat 2.4, and Extra hanging tough at its season high 0.7 to tie TMZ, which slipped 13% to a 0.7.
