WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Live’ Stands Out In Slow Summer Session

The talk show featured a widely-praised tribute to late co-host Regis Philbin on July 27 and, on July 31, an encore presentation of the “Regis Farewell Celebration Special” from Nov. 8, 2011, pushing it up 19% in the week ending Aug. 2.

In the moribund mid-summer session ending Aug. 2 where almost everything else in syndication hit a brick wall, Live with Kelly and Ryan rocketed to the top of the talk shows with a 19% ratings surge to a seven-week high 1.9 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen.

The show featured a widely-praised tribute to late co-host Regis Philbin on July 27 and, on July 31, an encore presentation of the “Regis Farewell Celebration Special” from Nov. 8, 2011.

Dr. Phil, which had led the talkers for the previous six weeks, was second with a steady 1.8.

Finishing a distant third was Maury at an unchanged 1.1 for the eighth straight week.

Further back, daytime staple since 2003 Ellen DeGeneres was mired at its all-time low 1.0 for the second week in a row.

Nielsen daytime deity Judge Judy was in reruns on all five days, easing 2% to a 5.6, which was still the highest household rating of anything in syndication. Even with numerous preemptions, Judy outperformed such prime access heavyweights as Family Feud, which fell 4% to a 5.5; Jeopardy, which inched up 2% to a 4.8; and Wheel of Fortune, which faded 2% to a new season low 4.7.
