Norm Lewis To Perform At Golden Mike Awards

The Broadway, film and TV star will entertain when the Golden Mike award dinner and ceremony returns on Monday, March 14, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America announced that the entertainment for this year’s Golden Mike Award Gala will be Broadway, film and TV star Norm Lewis. Following a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the BFOA Golden Mike Award Dinner and ceremony returns this year on Monday, March 14, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

The annual event is the biggest fundraiser for the Broadcasters Foundation, whose sole mission is to provide financial aid to broadcasters in acute need from critical illness, accident, or serious misfortune.

Lewis is an Emmy, Tony and SAG Award nominee and the first African American actor to perform in the title role in Broadway’s long-running production of Phantom of the Opera. He has appeared in numerous Broadway productions and in films, television shows and regional theatre. His appearance at the BFOA Golden Mike Award is courtesy of Broadcast Music Inc.

Among his many Broadway and off-Broadway credits, Lewis has starred in Chicken and Biscuits at the Circle in the Square Theatre, in a revival of Once on This Island, as Sweeney Todd in the Off-Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and more.

Most recently, Lewis appeared in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and in the FX series Pose. He starred in the ABC series Women of The Movement, and offscreen, his voice can be heard in the latest season of Apple TV’s animated series, Central Park. Lewis was also seen as “Caiaphas” in the award-winning NBC television special Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert!, alongside John Legend, Sara Bareilles and Alice Cooper.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America Golden Mike Award gala attracts a who’s who of broadcast media executives and celebrities. The Golden Mike Award honors an individual for their outstanding achievement and commitment to broadcasting and for ongoing service to the community at large.
