Sony Pictures Television To Take ‘The King of Queens’ Back to Market For Availability Starting In 2024

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the sitcom starring Kevin James, Leah Remini, Jerry Stiller and Patton Oswalt ran on CBS. Sony Pictures Television is selling all nine seasons of the sitcom across all linear and digital platforms.

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) plans to go out into the market this month with The King of Queens, offering rights across all linear and digital platforms. This would consist of all seasons of the show, commencing in April 2024.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the sitcom starring Kevin James, Leah Remini, Jerry Stiller and Patton Oswalt ran on CBS for nine seasons.

According to SPT:

  • The King of Queensis the No. 2 comedy in syndication in year-to-year ratings retention this season, second only to Seinfeld. It continues to grow on cable on CMT as well as on Peacock where it is in the top 10 of acquired comedies.
  • In 2022, the series was seen by over 71M viewers across linear and digital platforms, with viewers watching more than 602M hours.

Monica Veiga, SVP, U.S. Distribution, SPT, said: “The King of Queens is one of those rare sitcoms that is an enduring fan favorite and continues to be a solid performer on linear as well as SVOD platforms where it has found a whole new audience. We’re excited to take this beloved comedy back out to the market.”

Set in the working-class suburb of Queens, New York, the show follows Doug Heffernan (Kevin James), an amiable deliveryman, and his wife, secretary Carrie Heffernan (Leah Remini), as they endure the everyday challenges of love, life, family and marriage.
