KNBC-KVEA Names Lizette Carbajal VP Of Community Relations/Communications

NBCU promotes the Southern California native to oversee community engagement and communications strategies for its Los Angeles NBC and Telemundo stations in a new, expanded role.

Lizette Carbajal has been promoted to vice president of community relations and communications for the NBCU Los Angeles duopoly of KVEA (Telemundo) and KNBC (NBC). Effective immediately, Carbajal will lead community engagement and communications strategies for both stations. She will continue to report to Todd Mokhtari, the stations’ president and general manager.

Mokhtari said: “Lizette is driven by her passion to serve our diverse and ever-changing communities. During her years leading KVEA’s community relations she established partnerships to help our audiences navigate the most pressing issues affecting our region. We are excited to see how she’ll further Telemundo 52 and NBC4’s community impact in her new expanded role.”

Carbajal joined KVEA in 2015 as vice president of community relations and throughout her tenure has worked to strengthen and solidify KVEA’s community partnerships, and cultivate new ones, while amplifying awareness for the station’s community campaigns with local audiences. Over the years and in partnership with local groups, she’s also created unique opportunities that leverage the power of the local stations to benefit communities, the station said.

Prior to joining KVEA, Carbajal was manager of community education and outreach at SoCalGas, the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility. There, she led outreach strategies to help inform and prepare customers for large-scale capital investment initiatives. Before this, she worked at Conexión Public Relations managing U.S. Hispanic market focused public relations campaigns for automotive, fashion, finance and public service clients.

A Southern California native, Carbajal earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
