Arkona Technologies Closes Mega Expansion Deal Down Under

Arkona Technologies, provider of IP core infrastructure solutions for top-tier broadcast productions, has closed a large expansion deal with the Australian branch of a multinational company known for its live production capabilities.

The customer, already a long-time user of Arkona’s technology, selected Arkona’s next-generation BLADE//runner platform as part of a major upgrade that will enable the network to handle UHD transmissions between event venues and its centralized production facility.

Planned as a multi-staged roll out, the initial complement of equipment comprises 46 units of BLADE//runner AT300 dual 100GE FPGA programmable accelerator cards, combined with the JPEG-XS encode/decode application capable of UHD/3G/HD video. The solution, which has already been installed and is in operation, “packs a tremendous amount of power into a compact form factor providing an energy efficient, high density 4K/HDR solution and powerful tool for remote and live productions,” Arkona said.

“We are very pleased to be working with such a large, well-known, and prestigious company that knows arkona technology and chooses to remain with it,” said Erling Hedkvist, Arkona sales and business development manager. “Because of the enormity of its production schedule, this customer can’t risk failure. It’s a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to providing the highest quality and reliable solutions for live production.”
