IBC: Ikegami To Intro UHK-X600 Multi-Role HFR HDR Camera To European Broadcasters

Ikegami Electronics (Europe) has chosen IBC 2023, Sept. 15-18, RAI Amsterdam, to be the European launch platform for the latest addition to its Unicam XE range of broadcast-quality cameras. A highlight of the product demonstrations on the Ikegami stand at its usual location, 12.A31, will be the new UHK-X600 multi-role camera which is designed for pedestal-mounted, tripod-mounted or over-the-shoulder operation.

Michael Latzsch, broadcast and professional video division manager at Ikegami Europe, said: “The design brief was to create a camera which gives broadcasters and production companies the freedom to update to latest-generation high frame rate high dynamic range equipment that matches their current mode of operation while retaining the option to add UHD capabilities if or when they choose.

“The UHK-X600 inherits the high signal quality, creative versatility, robust build and flexible connectivity that have contributed to Ikegami’s success. Announced at the April 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas and now deliverable, it is ideal for use in studio or OB applications as well allowing battery-powered over-the-shoulder location production.”

Incorporating three 2/3-inch oversampling UHD CMOS sensors, the UHK-X600 delivers 1000 TVL resolution, minimal aliasing, plus 2000 lux sensitivity at F11 (50p). Standard features include full support for Hybrid Log Gamma HDR with the ability to select between BT.2020 and BT.709 chroma spaces. Global shutter imagers minimize artifacts when televising LED screen walls or flash/strobe illuminated stage environments.

Measuring 34 x 24.5 x 15.5 cm and weighing 5 kg, the UHK-X600 accepts a wide range of B4 lenses and supports chromatic aberration correction, vignetting correction, ramping compensation and remote control of backfocus when the latter is also supported by the lens.

Core of the UHK-X600 electronics is a power-efficient ASIC that encapsulates a wide range of high-grade video processing functions. When combined with the Ikegami BSX-100 type-S base station, the camera optionally supports simultaneous output in UHD and HD video formats.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Ikegami says that “future-proofing options for the UHK-X600 enable customers to invest in additional capabilities as or when required. Among the license-key based options is support for 2x, 3x and 4x high frame rate capture plus optional 4K processing delivering 2000 TVL resolution when operating in 2160p. Plug-in hardware-based options include a SMPTE ST 2110 compatible media-over-IP interface board and optional 12G output board.”
