Ardell Hill To Head Baron Broadcast Unit

Media General technologist Ardell Hill will lead the development, strategy and positioning of the weather technology provider's broadcast TV division beginning April 4.

Baron Services Inc. today announced that Media General executive Ardell Hill will join the company prior to NAB on April 4 as president of broadcast operations. In this role, Hill will be responsible for leading the continued expansion of the weather service company’s broadcast business sector.

Hill will be charged with driving the company’s product development and marketing strategy.”His knowledge and understanding of the needs of the broadcaster will provide an excellent technical source for products and services that meet broadcasters’ needs and represent Baron’s continuing commitment to the broadcast community,” the company said.

“I am thrilled to have someone with Ardell’s proven experience join our leadership team,” said Baran CEO Bob Baron. “I have had a close personal and professional relationship with Ardell since our mutual days at WFLA-TV; that’s a quarter of a century. I’m honored to have him join us.”

An industry veteran of 35 years, Hill began his career working for several southeastern television stations where he was responsible for the implementation of news gathering technology. He played a key role in the acquisition of television stations within Media General’s broadcast group and led their transition to digital television transmission implementing new technologies and processes.

In his most recent position, Hill took charge of leading a new initiative across the group for consolidation, centralization and product focus for specific media support services.

Ardell Hill is a great man as well as a great leader. I am positive that the company with thrive with such a quality person leading that team. Baron has continued their legacy of excellence by adding such a visionary. It will be interesting to see the company expand their footprint over the next several years. This is a great move for them. Kudos!

Shawn, totally agree with you. Not only is Ardell a great leader but a visionary. He always has the ability to create the concept, test the possibilities, surround himself with innovators while implementing and making the system a reality. His mentorship and attitude with his “We can do this”, attitude reminds me of the quote,
“Those that say it can’t be done are usually passed up by someone else doing it” that’s Ardell. He is doing it and continues to bring tomorrow’s ideas to life TODAY! Media General’s foundation is losing a great pillar and will be missed.

Ardell is a great leader and mentor, his knowledge and the ability to see thing from varying angles make him a visionary. I have had the pleasure to work with Ardell and this a step forward for Baron and its future. Media General will miss his leadsership. Congratulations Ardell.
