EARNINGS CALL

CBS Set To Stream Showtime Next Year

"We could say fairly definitively, sometime in '15, there will be some service from Showtime," Moonves, president-CEO of CBS, said during the company's earnings call with analysts.

CBS has added Showtime to its streaming plans and plans to launch some level of service next year, Les Moonves said during Wednesday’s third-quarter earnings conference call with investors.

“We could say fairly definitively, sometime in ’15, there will be some service from Showtime,” Moonves, president-CEO of CBS, said.

The disclosure follows recent moves to add streaming to its offerings. CBS in mid-October announced the launch of CBS All Access, a pay service costing $5.99 a month. That service, initially available on CBS O&Os, includes linear live streaming of the stations as well as access to other content. NFL football is not part of that package.

And today, CBS launched CBSN, an interactive streaming news service.

Earlier this year, Time Warner’s HBO announced plans to begin streaming sometime next year. ABC currently is streaming all of its O&Os. Fox also offers some streaming services and a number of Fox affiliates, including at least four owned by Raycom, will begin linear live streaming in the near future.

Showtime will probably only stream the TV shows; I doubt that movies will be a part of it.
