Cox’s KTVU To Air Weekly Sports Show

The Saturday niight show will debut on Aug. 23 and run through the end of the NFL season. The show will repeat late Saturday on duopoly station KICU and on Sunday mornings on KTVU prior to Fox NFL coverage. Ex-49er Dwight Clark is the host.

KTVU San Francisco, which Fox is acquiring from Cox Media in a four-station swap, will air a new weekly sports show each Saturday night at 9 during the upcoming season.

The KTVU Mercedes-Benz Sports Weekend will debut with a “pre-season” edition on Aug. 23 and then resume on Sept. 6 and continue until the end of the NFL season.

The show will be repeated at 11 p.m. on Saturdays on KIUC, Cox’s duopoly station in the market, and again on KTVU on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. leading into Fox’s Sunday football coverage.

Former San Francisco 49ers star Dwight Clark will host the show.

“Nobody knows 49ers football better than Dwight Clark,” said Joe Fonzi, KTVU sports anchor. “Everything from the huddle to the executive front office, Dwight has been there and done that. In my 32 years of covering sports in the Bay Area, I’ve never been more excited about launching a new show.”

Last month, Cox Media agreed to swap its San Francisco duopoly to Fox Television Stations in exchange for Fox’s WHBQ Memphis and WFXT Boston.
