Dejero Unveils Bonded Cellular Vehicle Transmitter

Ontario-based Dejero unveiled its new LIVE+VSET vehicle-mount bonded cellular transmitter today, aiming to integrate its flagship ENG technology with satellite and microwave trucks.

“The LIVE+ VSET is truly unique in the marketplace, combing industry-leading adaptive bit-rate bonded cellular engineering with IP-based satellite connectivity and an optional ASI interface,” Brian Cram, Dejero CEO, said in a statement. “This unique hybrid approach results in tremendous flexibility and cost-savings opportunities for news gatherers by enabling them to go live from both traditional as well as modern technologies from the same truck, even while driving.”

Dejero isn’t alone with this concept. Last week, LiveU introduced Xtender, its vehicle-mounted bonded cellular transmitter. KOVR Sacramento has already implemented the new device in its Mobile Weather Lab SUV.

As reported by TVNewsCheck, bonded cellular companies are looking for ways to capture more bandwidth, including incorporating satellite, and plan on showing off those capabilities at this year’s NAB Show. The idea is to go live from the field immediately using cellular while a satellite or microwave powers up. Both sources of bandwidth then work hand-in-hand to deliver a consistent and reliable signal.

During bad weather, Dejero’s bonding technology picks up on any rain fade or other atmospheric conditions that cause the satellite bandwidth to decrease and automatically continues the transmission using more bandwidth from the cellular networks. The hybrid approach also helps cut down on latency.
