DePalma New Chair Of Conn. Broadcasters Assoc.

Klarn DePalma, the SVP-general manager of WFSB Hartford-New Haven, Conn., and WSHM Springfield, Mass., has been elected the chair of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association.

DePalma has long been an active member of the statewide organization which represents the interests of Connecticut’s TV and radio broadcasters.Most recently, he served as the association’s first vice chairman.

“Klarn is a dynamic member of our state’s broadcasting community,” said Mike Rice, president of the CBA. “We value his leadership and vision as we move forward during this exciting technological time in our industry.”

DePalma has spent nearly two decades at WFSB, which is owned by the Meredith Broadcasting Group. He joined the station as an account executive in 1993, was promoted to local sales manager in 1998, to general sales manager in 2002, and then to director of sales for WFSB and WSHM.

In 2005, DePalma was named VP-GM. In December 2010, he was named General Manager of the Year in Markets 26–50 by Broadcasting & Cable magazine.

DePalma graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BS in marketing, and earned his MBA in management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
