‘Extra’ Renewed Through ’17 By NBC Stations

The popular syndicated entertainment newsmagazine has been sold in 85% of the U.S. through its 23rd season.

Extra, the syndicated entertainment newsmagazine currently in its 19th season, has been renewed by stations, including the NBC Owned Stations, in more than 85% of the country through the 2016-17 season, it was announced today by Ken Werner, president, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

The series will continue to air on eight NBC-owned stations: WNBC New York, KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth, KNTV San Francisco, WTVJ Miami-Fort Lauderdale and WVIT Hartford, Conn.

In addition, the series has also been sold to station groups including Hearst, Gannett, Belo, Sinclair, CBS, LIN, Meredith, Media General and Post Newsweek.

According to distributor Warner Bros Domestic Television Distribution, Extra increased its adults 25-54 viewing from the November 2012 to February 2013 sweeps in top markets across the country including in New York (+9% rating), Los Angeles (+11%), San Francisco (+17%), Houston (+29%), Portland, Ore. (+8%), and Baltimore (+40).
