WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Fireworks For ‘Wendy Williams’ In July 4 Week

It ties Live with Kelly & Michael for the No. 1 talk show in women 25-54 demo and has its best households rating in 18 weeks.

Talk shows had the most to celebrate in the session ending July 5, which included the big Independence Day holiday weekend.

At the top of the pack, Live with Kelly & Michael rose 4% for both the week and the year, to a 2.7 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. Among women 25-54, Live also led the talkers with a 1.3 demo rating, although it was tied by Wendy Williams. This marks the first time Wendy won a share of first place in the key women 25-54 demo. In households, Wendy raced ahead 13% to a 1.8, the show’s highest rating in 18 weeks, and leaped 29% from last year, the most of any talk show.

Other talkers in the plus column were:

  • Steve Harvey, which spurted 6% to a 1.7, and surged 21% from last year, the third greatest annual improvement in talk.
  • Rachael Ray, which rallied 8% to a 1.3, and rose 20% among women 25-54.
  • Dr. Oz, which climbed 8% to a 1.3, tying Rachael.
  • The Doctors and The Real, which both climbed 11% to a 1.0.

In addition, Jerry Springer soared 27% from last year, the second biggest annual gain of any talk show, while Steve Wilkos improved 17% from the same week a year ago.

Also of note, an all-repeat week of Dr. Phil still finished in second place with a 2.4. And, Wendy, Maury and Ellen DeGeneres were all locked in an unusual three-way tie among talk shows at a 1.8, with Steve Harvey only a tenth of a point behind.

Judge Judy continued to preside as the No. 1 syndicated show overall for the eighth time in the past 10 weeks with a 6.4.
