Fox TV Stations Renews ‘Dish Nation’

The syndicated entertainment news program is extended for two years through 2016-2017 season. Its total viewers grow 10% over a year ago.

Fox Television Stations has renewed syndicated entertainment newsmagazine Dish Nation for two more seasons, which will bring the show to its fifth season in 2016-17. Dish Nation is distributed by Twentieth Television.

So far this season through mid December, Dish Nation has averaged 1.4 million viewers, up 10% over the same time last year, according to Nielsen. The show, which airs in latenight, prime access and in daytime, this season has a 0.6 adult 25-54 rating and a 0.5 adult 18-49 rating, both flat to last year.

“This year, Dish has raised the bar on what it’s good at — honest, ethnically diverse, unapologetic and often very funny takes on this stuff,” said Frank Cicha, senior vice president of programming for Fox Television Stations, in a statement. “We see it as a show with big upside, and audiences in our key time periods and upgrades have backed us up.”

Dish Nation is hosted by morning radio show hosts, including Atlanta’s Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Dallas’ Kidd Kraddick in the Morning and Los Angeles-based Heidi & Frank.

Michael Bachmann is Dish Nation’s executive producer; Matt Blanock and Randy Christini are co-executive producers.
