Al Grossniklaus, WTHR Indianapolis director of engineering, is chosen by the Society of Broadcast Engineers to receive its Broadcast Engineer of the Year Award at SBE's annual meeting on Sept. 28.
Grossniklaus Is SBE’s Engineer Of The Year
The Society of Broadcast Engineers today named Al Grossniklaus, director of engineering for WTHR Indianapolis, winner of its Broadcast Engineer of the Year Award.
Grossniklaus is being recognized for making significant contributions to the field of broadcast engineering through his work at WTHR and for furthering the goals and objectives of the SBE, the society said.
The 2011 SBE Educator of the Year is Steve Lampen, of Belden Inc. SBE cited Lampen for his knowledge and humor in frequent speeches and presentations at SBE chapters meetings, Ennes Workshops and other meetings of broadcast engineers.
The awards for Grossniklaus and Lampen, as well as a number of other individuals and SBE chapters, will be presented on Sept. 28 in Columbus, Ohio, during the SBE National Meeting. The event is being held in conjunction with the Ohio Broadcast Engineering Conference, sponsored by the Ohio Association of Broadcasters.

Both are fitting award recipients. Al has a love of TV that he simply can’t hide, and Steve’s contribution as an educator is long worthy of notice. Congrats to both!
