‘Katie’ Clearances Now Top 80% Of The US

The new Katie Couric talker from Disney-ABC Domestic Television has been cleared in 55 of the top 60 markets for its fall 2012 launch.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television has now cleared Katie in 80% of the country, securing station outlets in 55 of the top 60 markets with key early fringe time periods, the syndicator announced today.The show is set to debut in September 2012.

The latest to pick up the one-hour daily daytime talk show featuring former Today co-host and CBS News anchor Katie Couric include stations belonging to Granite, Griffin, Media General, Meredith, Raycom and Sinclair.

Among the stations: KSTP Minneapolis; WEWS Cleveland; KMOV St. Louis; KGW Portland, Ore.; WSMV Nashville; WCMH Columbus, Ohio; KSL Salt Lake City; WLOS Greenville, S.C.-Asheville, N.C.; KSAT San Antonio, Texas; WZZM Grand Rapids, Mich.; and WBMA Birmingham, Ala.

In addition to hosting Katie, Couric is a member of the ABC News team.

Katie will be produced in conjunction with Disney-ABC and Jeff Zucker will be the executive producer.

Another datapoint on whether news identify can be translated to “ratings success.” Jane Pauley, no. Anderson Cooper, appears to be close to ‘”yes.’ Her CBS Evening News broadcasts, one can and should note, got 100% coverage.
