LIN Taps René LaSpina To Lead Buffalo Duo

The former VP-GM of WPTY, WLMT and WJKT Memphis, will now lead LIN’s duopoly of WIVB (CBS) and WNLO (CW) Buffalo, N.Y..

LIN TV Corp. today named  René LaSpina president and general manager of WIVB (CBS) and WNLO (CW) Buffalo, N.Y. (DMA 52). She replaces Chris Musial, who left the company on May 31.

LaSpina has 20 years of television station management experience. She joins LIN Media after having spent the last three years as the VP-GM of WPTY, WLMT and WJKT in Memphis. Prior to that position, she managed television stations in Albany-Schenectady-Troy, N.Y.; Minneapolis-Saint Paul; and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa.

In her new role that is effective immediately, LaSpina will provide strategic direction, leadership and operational management for WIVB-WNLO and will report to Jay Howell, LIN Media’s regional vice president television.

LaSpina received her Bachelor of Science degree in human resources from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania and also completed executive education at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

I knew I heard that name before. She was at WCCO-TV/Minneapolis and nearly killed it. I hope she learned something.
