Americans prefer unbiased local news. But media consolidation makes it profitable for stations to broadcast biased national news, anyway.

Americans don’t “prefer unbiased local news”. Ratings, especially demos have been tanking for years. The average market has over 170 hours of local news every week – most generating 1 demos. Stations are just making the donuts.. Empty calories filled with crime, car wrecks, and endless weather hype. Around 12 minutes of insulting commercials are added to every mindless half hour newscast. It’s just there. Filling up space. Yes, it’s cumulatively profitable, but on a steady decline. Local news is not turning into Trump TV. It’s turning into stone.
Please provide trigger warning so that we can put our hip waders on before reading such biased leavings. No one ever has a problem with decades of left slanted news on the local or national level. Where’s the in-depth piece on NBC burrying the Weinstein, a big Democrat contributor, expose? Or how Clinton operative George Stephanopolous is such an unbiased source on ABC. The fetishtist bias/fetish in the main stream media at the national and local level is enough to make one want to puke, and yet everyone is worried about Sinclair.

Does this article appear to be unbiased? I guess I agree with him that Americans would prefer unbiased news and not sure this article would qualify.
Abt the only thing I watch local news for is weather & sports, National weather can’t/won’t cover events like the 19 March event in Alabama like local weather. This is the specially true since the 27 April, 2011 Super Outbreak that took 238 lives on that day. I do watch WVUA local news as the station is geared primarily towards Tuscaloosa & West Alabama news & competes only superficially w/the larger BHM media outlets.
