Media General Taps Andy Alford As WFLA GM
Andy Alford is moving up the Media General ranks, becoming VP/GM of WFLA, the company’s NBC affiliate in Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla. (DMA 14) starting Aug. 1.
He will also continue in his role as VP of Sales for Media General, a position he’s held since June 1, the company says.
Alford will head to WFLA from Albany, N.Y. (DMA 58), where he has been VP/GM of ABC affiliate WTEN, as well as Shield Media’s Fox affiliate WXXA since 2010.
He is a 30-year veteran of broadcasting, whose experience includes being the GM of WGCL, Meredith’s CBS affiliate in Atlanta, the country’s ninth largest market.
