Michael Fiorile Appointed TVB Chairman

TVB announced today that Michael J. Fiorile, vice chairman and CEO of Dispatch Broadcast Group, has been appointed to serve as TVB chairman for a two-year term, 2015-16. A member of TVB’s board of directors since 2006, Fiorile assumes the chairman’s position previously held by WCVB Boston GM Bill Fine, who completed his two-year term at the end of 2014.

“I’m honored to follow Bill Fine’s tremendous leadership of TVB and assume the role of chairman as we continue to work and advocate for important initiatives that will benefit our nearly 700 member stations,” Fiorile said. 

“Most importantly,” he continued, “TVB is committed to enhancing our members’ local sales efforts with tools, data and services that leverage the unrivaled reach and engagement that broadcast TV delivers to brand managers and marketers among all media options. A key component of these efforts has been TVB’s advocacy work related to the adoption of Live + Same Day ratings, as they have been consistently proven to be equivalent to the national C3 standard, thereby allowing every viewer to be properly valued by advertisers.

“As a TVB board member for the past nine years, I have collaborated with my colleagues across station groups to help member stations grow their business while establishing a unified voice for the immense power of this platform. We have developed a comprehensive plan of initiatives to drive credible, accurate measurement and currency standards, to expand the thought leadership at our annual Forward Conference, and to drive local sales in key verticals for member stations. I look forward to working closely with Steve Lanzano and our entire team of leading industry professionals as we further strengthen the influence and efficacy of TVB.”

Fiorile joined Dispatch Broadcast Group in 1994, overseeing all television, radio and cable operations. He has also served as president and CEO of The Dispatch Printing Co. since 2013 and previously was COO and president of the Dispatch’s print operations.

Fiorile has long been a leader in the print and broadcast industries. In addition to serving on the TVB board, he currently serves on the CBS Television Affiliates Board (chair), BMI, Television Operators Caucus, National Association of Broadcasters and the Broadcasters Foundation, as well as the Newspaper Association of America (NAA).

Fiorile was named 2012 Broadcaster of the Year by Broadcasting & Cable. Previously, he served as chair of the NBC Television Affiliates Board and on the executive committee/board of directors of the Open Mobile Video Coalition.
