NBC Closes On its $8.5M KTLM Purchase

It now owns the Telemundo affiliate in the Texas market of Harlingen-Weslaco-Brownsville-McAllen.

NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations today announced that its Telemundo Rio Grande Valley LLC has closed on the purchase of Telemundo affiliate KTLM Rio Grande City, Texas (DMA 86), from Sunbelt Multimedia Co. for $8.5 million.

Larry Patrick of Patrick Communications brokered the deal. In 2012, Patrick was appointed receiver for Sunbelt Multimedia and associated entities by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

“Telemundo 40 is a great station in the 10th largest Spanish-speaking television market in the country,” said Valari Staab, president, NBCUniversal Owned Stations. “There’s a solid foundation for us to build on, and it’s an important addition to our division as we continue our efforts to deliver the best news and information to our Hispanic communities, businesses and audiences.”
