NBC Going Ahead With Jones Interview

The network said that it remains "committed to giving viewers context and insight into a controversial and polarizing figure [Alex Jones], how he relates to the president of the United States and influences others, and to getting this serious story right."

NEW YORK (AP) — NBC News vowed Friday to go ahead with Megyn Kelly’s report on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Sunday, despite his “efforts to distract and ultimately prevent” its airing.

The network said that it remains “committed to giving viewers context and insight into a controversial and polarizing figure, how he relates to the president of the United States and influences others, and to getting this serious story right.”

The story, scheduled to air Sunday evening, has NBC being buffeted from both sides. Jones has said he believed it will be a “fraud,” and said he would release an unedited version of the interview that he recorded. Meanwhile, parents of children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre have urged NBC not to give him airtime because he’s theorized the shooting could be a hoax.

Jones’ website, Infowars.com, touted the availability of the unedited interview, but it was not online as of Friday morning.

NBC News Chairman Andy Lack told The Associated Press that the story on “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” will be edited with the sensitivity of its critics in mind.

NBC “committed to giving viewers context and insight”. Is that the new term for Spin?

Alex Jones and his lunacy do not deserve or warrant prime time network news coverage. Don’t they see that adds legitimacy to his hurtful, insulting, nefarious “theories?” No. This is purely whoring up the network for ratings. And how do you think those poor, grieving parents feel about this? Can they be given the same air time to discuss gun control and sensible gun laws? Nah. Not sexy enough for ratings. Shame on NBC.

If NBC wasn’t going to air the Alex Jones interview they would have done it a few days ago. I believe that Megny Kelly will be tough on Alex Jones she isn’t going to let Alex Jones spin or let him spew his theories. I’m not going to watch the interview and I’m glad that NBC isn’t backing down and is going to air the interview.

The one place the Alex Jones interview won’t be airing is where the Sandy Hook massacre occurred; WVIT (a NBC O&O) will be preempting Sunday night’s Megyn Kelly program.

Was not President Trumpo the Clown a guest on the Alex Jones Show during the campaign?? Where was all the outrage?? It’s been reported the Prez (big shoes, small hands) has communicated with this lunatic conspiracy theorist.
