News-Press & Gazette Buys Three Stations

The News-Press & Gazette Company has purchased KION, KMUV and KKFX from the Cowles California Media Company, subject to approvals from the Federal Communications Commission.

 

The News-Press & Gazette Company has purchased three stations from the Cowles California Media Company, subject to approvals from the Federal Communications Commission.

Stations that News-Press & Gazette purchased include, KION (CBS) and KMUV (Telemundo) in Monterey-Salinas, Calif., and Fox affiliate KKFX Santa Barbara, Calif.

Additionally, News-Press and Cowles have entered into a shared services arrangement relating to the Cowles Media-owned KCOY Santa Maria, Calif., where News-Press provides operating assistance to the station, including news, back office, engineering and sales support. General management, programming and sales will continue to be managed by Cowles.

Terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed. The transactions are expected to close sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.
