Nexstar Names Denk GM In Memphis, Jackson
Nexstar Broadcasting Group today promoted Joseph E. Denk to vice president and general manager of WATN (ABC)-WLMT (CW) in Memphis DMA (50), and WJKT (Fox) Jackson, Tenn. DMA (176) and the stations’ associated digital services. He succeeds Ardyth Diercks, who announced in February that she was leaving.
Since 2011, Denk has been VP-GM of Nexstar’s CBS affiliates WFRV Green Bay, Wis., and WJMN Marquette, Mich. He will assume his new responsibilities immediately and he will continue to report to Timothy Busch, Co-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting.
Denk has 33 years of broadcast television and sales management experience with the past seven years at Nexstar.
From 2008 to 2011 Denk was VP-GM of WQRF and WTVO Rockford, Ill.
Prior to joining Nexstar, he was GM of KFXA-KGAN Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 1996 to 2008. He also held leadership positions at WRSP Springfield, Ill., and KDUB Dubuque Iowa.
Denk earned a Bachelor of Science degree in radio and television broadcasting from University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
