Nexstar Names Julie Brinks Grand Rapids GM

The veteran local TV broadcaster moves from Bend, Ore., to oversee WOOD (NBC), WOTV (ABC) and WXSP.

Nexstar Media Group today appointed Julie Brinks vice president and general manager of WOOD-TV (NBC), WOTV-TV (ABC) and WXSP-TV (MNT) and their associated digital services, serving  Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Battle Creek, Mich. (DMA 44). She will assume her new responsibilities immediately and report to Diane Kniowski, Nexstar SVP and regional manager.

Brinks brings to her new role over three decades of expertise in local and national sales management, local programming and content, new business development, operations and strategic planning across multiple media platforms. Prior to joining Nexstar, she was GM of KOHD and KBNZ-LD in Bend, Ore. During her tenure, she oversaw the launch of the stations’ news programming, managing all aspects of local branding, creative development, news set construction and talent recruitment.

Prior to KOHD, Brinks was a principal consultant for Vici Media where she provided strategic direction, digital marketing and revenue development services to broadcast groups and individual stations. She also was VP-GM of KGUN, KWBA and four radio properties in Tucson-Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Prior to that, Brinks was VP-GM of WPBN and WTOM Traverse City-Cadillac, Mich.

Brinks earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and cinematic arts from Central Michigan University and is also a graduate of the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation’s Broadcast Leadership Training program.
