Nexstar Names Richard Engberg Peoria GM

Nexstar Broadcasting Group on Tuesday appointed Richard Engberg vice president and general manager of CBS affiliate WMBD and its associated digital services, including Bounce TV Central Illinois, and community Web portals ciproud.com and ciproud.biz in Peoria-Bloomington, Ill. (DMA 116).

In his new role, Engberg will also oversee Nexstar’s outsourcing agreement with Sinclair Broadcasting Group’s WYZZ (Fox). The appointment is effective immediately and he will report to Timothy Busch, EVP and co-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Engberg brings over three decades of broadcasting experience to his new role. Most recently he was VP/director of sales for Univision Communications’ KTVW-KFPH Phoenix, and KUVE-KFTU Tucson, Ariz.

Formerly, Engberg spent seven years with Tribune Broadcasting where he was the director of sales at WSFL Miami before being promoted to VP-GM of the station. Engberg previously served in general manager, account executive and local and national sales roles for various stations including WCIU and WFLD Chicago, as well as WPEC West Palm Beach, Fla.

Engberg is a graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., where he received his Bachelor of Arts in communications.
