Nick Coit Named WLNE Sports Director

The ABC affiliate in Providence, R.I., promotes him to take over sports leadership upon the retirement of Ken Bell at the end of next month.

Citadel Communications-owned ABC affiliate WLNE Providence, R.I. (DMA 52) BC6 has promoted Nick Coit to succeed Ken Bell as sports director when Bell retires at the end of July.

“I am thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to become the next sports director at ABC6,” said Coit. “These past few years covering sports in Rhode Island/Southern New England have been a true joy. As the success of the New England Patriots, our four local Division I universities, our high school athletes and other local teams continues, I look forward to following the athletes and telling the stories that make this such an exciting area.”

Before joining WLNE in February 2014, he worked at WFXT Boston as a sports producer and at WABI Bangor, Maine, as a sports anchor/reporter.

Coit graduated from Emerson College in Boston in 2011 with a degree in broadcast journalism.
