Rodriguez To Head Univision’s Miami Duo

Michael Rodriguez brings nearly two decades of broadcast experience to the company’s WLTV (Univision) and WAMI (TeleFutura).

Univision Communications on Monday named Michael T. Rodriguez vice president and general manager of the company’s duopoly in Miami (DMA 16), WLTV (Univision) and WAMI (TeleFutura). He succeeds Luis Fernández-Rocha who was promoted to senior vice president of TeleFutura in January.

Rodriguez comes to Univision from Telemundo, where he was executive vice president of development, distribution and broadcast operations, and before that, senior vice president of network sales and marketing since 2007.

Prior to that, from 2002 to 2007, he was vice president and general manager of WSCV Miami. From 1997 to 2002 he was local sales manager at WFOR Miami.  He began his career in 1992 as local account executive for Univision Radio in Miami.

“The 2010 Census showed that South Florida’s population growth is being fueled by Hispanics, with about half of the state’s Hispanic population living in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Therefore, Univision’s stations in this market couldn’t be a more important source of information and entertainment for this community,” Rodriguez said.
